The City of Imperial Beach is looking for experienced and dedicated instructors for a wide range of classes in the arts, sports, humanities, technology, athletics, health and wellness. If you would like to contribute to our programming, please review the requirements below and email a completed class proposal form available below.
Who are contracted instructors?
Contracted instructors provide a specialized activity or service to the community and are responsible for designing and executing their own program content.
Contract Instructors serve as independent contractors for the City of Imperial Beach and are not considered employees. Instructors do not rent the facility, however a portion of the fees collected are retained by the City to cover facility usage, registration, administration, and promotion of the class.
How do I become a contracted instructor?
The City of Imperial Beach accepts new instructors on an ongoing basis. Inquiries are reviewed based on the following criteria: community interest, current trends, facility availability, and instructor experience.
If your proposed class is accepted, the following steps are required before instruction can begin:
- Complete a LiveScan/Fingerprinting
- Provide a negative TB test
- Obtain liability insurance through the city or coverage for the city with an outside provider
- Obtain an Imperial Beach Business License
- Sign an instructional agreement
- Submit a W-9 and vendor form
