The new Military Service K9 statue depicts Chopper, “The Navy SEAL Dog,” and recognizes his handler, and local Navy SEAL veteran, Trevor Maroshek. Chopper was there for his handler, Trevor, as both a service dog during their time in service and a support companion after facing combat. After retiring as a Navy SEAL, Trevor was inspired to create the Seal Dog Foundation, a nonprofit that provides support to veterans and their families with specially trained service dogs for veterans with combat-related injuries. The statue has found its home in Veterans Park as a symbol of the heroism of our veterans, humans and canines.
Funding for the statue was generously donated by the Navy SEAL Museum Foundation.
